Soft sleeves are completely archival safe. Rigid sleeves (sometimes called toploaders) are made of rigid PVC. They offer excellent protection against bending and dings, but are technically not archival safe. For complete protection, first place your item in a soft sleeve, then into the rigid sleeve. The soft sleeves are sized to fit into rigid sleeves perfectly.
